چکیده
Hadron therapy with protons has advantages respect to conventional radiotherapy because of the maximization dose at Bragg peak. As a drawback, and different systematic uncertainty sources, quasi-real time monitoring for proton range verification is required reduce safety margins. In this respect, two gamma-ray imaging techniques are pursued: prompt positron-annihilation tomography (PET). The promising requires detection systems large efficiency, high resolution, compactness, fast response, low sensitivity neutron-induced backgrounds powerful image reconstruction capabilities. On other hand, in-beam PET surveys require additionally good γ-ray position resolution. contribution we show that, extent, both approaches can be simultaneously accomplished by using an array Compton cameras conveniently arranged around target volume. Here demonstrate experimentally suitability such array, named i-TED, PG in ion-range during Therapy, survey β + production yield measurements capability. Furthermore, use GPUs, achieved.

15 صفحه اولStudy of the Compton scattering effect of soft tissue in PET imaging by Monte Carlo method
Introduction:In PET imaging, one or both of two annihilation photons may change the direction before reaching the detector due to Compton scattering interaction in body. .Methods:This article, a Monte Carlo simulation study, examined the effect of soft tissue on this error. In this work, the PET BiographTM 6 scanner, a simple geometry of soft tissue -including a sphere of soft tissue in center ...
متن کاملProton Therapy Verification with PET Imaging
Proton therapy is very sensitive to uncertainties introduced during treatment planning and dose delivery. PET imaging of proton induced positron emitter distributions is the only practical approach for in vivo, in situ verification of proton therapy. This article reviews the current status of proton therapy verification with PET imaging. The different data detecting systems (in-beam, in-room an...

A Compton telescope for dose monitoring in hadron therapy is under development at IFIC. The system consists of three layers of LaBr3 crystals coupled to silicon photomultiplier arrays. (22)Na sources have been successfully imaged reconstructing the data with an ML-EM code. Calibration and temperature stabilization are necessary for the prototype operation at low coincidence rates. A spatial res...
